
Air Canada / Vancouver International Maple Leaf Lounge
The internatial Maple Leaf Lounge in the Vancouver Airport
was renovated to increase capacity, realign the space for current food
and beverage service needs as wll as refreshing 10 year old finishes.
Recently, David Hanson was featured in an interview for a segment of the
television program 'D' about Air Canada's lounges. The program is shown
in Quebec on TV5 and on Air Canada flights. A clip of the interview can

Air Canada / Aeroplan - Richmond, BC
A fast track office renovation was completed in early
2004 to relocate the main Aeroplan call centre to a 30,000 square foot
facility that accommodates in excess of 400 agent positions. This project
was completed with an exceptionally tight time frame and budget. A unique
brand identity for the Aeroplan space was created within the surroundings
of a much larger Air Canada facility. A bright, welcoming environment
was created for the staff including extensive use of the Aeroplan 'Have
a Dream' graphic images and playful colours throughout.

Port Sidney Marina - Sidney, BC
-The owner of this prestigious marina facility in Sidney, BC wanted to
transform an existing floating 2 storey facility into a high end gourmet
food, giftware and marine supply retail facility. In addition guest services
facilities for the boaters was to be included in the space. DH Designs
worked along with renowned retail consultants Sixth Line Solutions to
translate a detailed merchandising program into a sophisticated oasis
to not only serve the guests but the entire Sidney residential community.
The design concept includes a fresh palate and the use of natural materials
to enhance the setting. Particular attention was paid to circulation and
lighting.

Vancouver International Airport
This award winning new store
was designed for HMS Host in the main hall of the international terminal
at YVR. A museum like facility was created to highlight the authentic
native art featured in the store. Specialty display cases were created
that define the boundaries of the store while allowing constant visual
contact with the terminal around the shop.
Elixir Restaurant, Opus Hotel - Vancouver, B.C.

DH Designs worked with Mitchell Freedland Design to
create this exciting new restaurant in Vancouver's Yaletown area. The
restaurant is described in the opening press release as follows:

"Elixir is all classic
French with a pressed tin ceiling, marble mosaic floors, a stained
glass ceiling over a horseshoe bar with brass railings, Carrera
marble table tops, antique red leather banquettes, and walnut Venetian
blinds and paneling throughout. The more intimate private dining
room has etched glass wall panels, deep ruby red carpeting, rich
red mohair covered seating and walls draped with ruby red velvet
all reflected in an abundance of antique gilt-framed mirrors." |
Salmon House on the Hill, West Vancouver BC

The client required a compete renovation of the bar
and lounge area to reposition the room as a new destination featuring
it's own Tapas menu. The bar area was opened up to create visual contact
between the two rooms and a water inspired, west coast aesthetic was
designed to compliment the large collection of authentic native art
and to create a comfortable, inviting environment to enjoy the spectacular
views of the city. The main dining room was also refurbished to tie
in with the new Coho Room.

A fast track office renovation was completed to consolidate
10,000 square feet of operational space in the Vancouver Airport Technical
Operations facility.
City of Surrey, Surrey, BC
A long term replacement program for flooring and wall
finishes in several of their buildings including City Hall and several
recreational facilities was developed for the Facilities department
of the City.
Stamps Landing Pub - False
Creek, Vancouver, BC
Incorporation of an adjacent building and breezeway
to double the size of the pub and add a full service kitchen. Complete
renovation of the existing pub to match the new spaces.
Richmond RCMP, Richmond, BC
Phase One: 14,000 square feet in the recently
vacated interim Richmond City Hall was renovated for use by several
RCMP departments including media relations, community services and training
functions.
Phase Two: Planning was completed to reorganize
30,000 square feet of office and support areas, optimizing the available
space in the Richmond Public Safety Building.
Phase Three: The first renovations of the Public Safety Building
are being implemented to improve the space utilization for the RCMP.
Cioppino's Enoteca - Yaletown, Vancouver, BC
A rustic Mediterranean wine bar including a retail food
area, open kitchen at the front of the restaurant, a sushi bar, outdoor
patio and a private wine room .
Taste @ Major the Gourmet, Granville Island Market,

One of Vancouver's leading catering firms has expanded
their services to include retail sales by opening an outlet in the highly
popular Granville Island Public Market. The entire space was gutted
and rebuilt to reflect the image of the company and enhance the shopping
experience for the customer. The company's graphic image has been incorporated
into architectural elements of the space to draw attention to the fact
that there is a new outlet in the market.
